The Department of Experimental Neurophysiology of the Medical Faculty is a department of the Institute of Physiology of the Medical Faculty.Chair of the Department is Prof. Dr.med. Ulf Eysel, he is member of the Rectorate of the Ruhr-University Bochum as Vice-Rector for Research and Structure.
The main field of research of the Department of Experimental Neurophysiology is neurophysiology and sensory physiology of the visual system.
Our actual research areas comprise structure and function, excitatory and inhibitory transmission, and lesion-induced and use-dependent neuronal plasticity of the visual system.
